Youth Ministry - Ignited4Chirst

Welcome to the student ministry of First Southern Baptist Church. I am Scott Connelly the Minister of Students here at First Southern, and I am excited to get to know you. This page will give you information about the student ministry. At the bottom of this page there is a link to download permission slips for any off-campus events.
Our youth group name is Ignited4Christ, and that is the goal of this ministry. On this page you will find out about our upcoming events, and about our purpose and goals. I can also tell you that my biggest passion outside of God and my family is to raise up a generation of students that take an active part in God's plans. Youth are not the future of the church; they are the church. Satan uses youth on the frontlines in his battle plan; they are essential weapons when he attacks. I believe it is about time the church realizes that anything Satan can do God can do better. Youth should be the "first stringers" in ministry, not spectators. At First Southern we believe that youth are not just the future of the church, but they are the present. Throughout history God has used young people to accomplish His plans and purposes. Ministry is an essential part of it. We do not want a youth group; we want to have a youth ministry.

Upcoming Events

Summer Calender

Super Summer July 26th-30th

Super summer is our youth camp. It is designed to build unity among our students and give us that spiritual boost before students go back to school.

Sundays

9:00 AM Church-wide fellowship

9:20 AM Small Groups

Sunday morning small groups will be the same. The purpose of these groups are for basic knowledge of God, Jesus and what He has done for us. This is our entry level program. When we have people visit or come to an activity this is where we are trying push them to. Small groups is where we try to build relationships and community. There will always be a cooler church, a more happening youth group, a cooler youth pastor, bigger trips, better facilities etc…but relationships is what anchors people to stay.

10:30 AM Worship

4:00-6:15 PM                           Fuse

Sunday Evenings will be outreach night. We are going to call it Fuse because hopefully it will be the starting point in which the fuse is lit for an explosion of growth.

We will meet at the church at 4:00 and then head over to South Coffeyville high school where we will have different games and activities set up. We will then have a short devotion at the end. The purpose of this is too have an environment that is non threatening to unchurched people. This is away to make it easier for a student to bring lost friends who may not ever go to an event that is held at the church. At this event I would like to get as many adults as possible to help with crowd control and build relationships. We want to push these students toward our Sunday morning small groups ministry.
